Overview
Tax Preparation and Accounting firm looking for someone to join our team in January!

Desired Experience:

Tax Preparation (Not required but very helpful)

QuickBooks Online (Required)

Payroll Knowledge (Must have some level of experience)

Knowledge of general accounting practices (Required)

Approx 20 hours per week January – April, hours available after that to be determined later.

MUST be detailed oriented and motived.

$25.00 to $30.00 an hour based on experience

Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP and regulatory standards
• Manage general ledger accounting, account reconciliation, and balance sheet reconciliation
• Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
• Conduct bank reconciliations and cash flow analysis
• Perform journal entries, accrual accounting, and double entry bookkeeping
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial report writing
• Ensure compliance with SOX controls and securities law requirements
• Maintain accurate records using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms
• Assist with regulatory reporting and audit preparations
• Manage payroll processing and related tax filings
• Provide financial analysis to support operational decisions and strategic planning
• Mentor junior staff or interns in accounting procedures and best practices

Skills

• Extensive knowledge of GAAP, financial concepts, and technical accounting standards
• Proficiency with accounting software including QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft, or equivalent systems
• Strong understanding of corporate accounting, non-profit accounting, governmental accounting, and public accounting practices
• Experience with SOX compliance, LIHTC regulations, securities law, and regulatory reporting
• Ability to interpret financial reports and perform financial statement analysis
• Skilled in bank reconciliation, account reconciliation, journal entries, and general ledger management
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to conduct cash flow analysis and budgeting forecasts
• Familiarity with tax experience related to Wills, trusts & estate law is a plus
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and report generation
• Knowledge of accrual accounting principles and double entry bookkeeping methodology
• Effective communicator capable of mentoring team members or interns in complex financial concepts
