Job Description
Arepet Express, LLC is seeking to fill a Dispatcher position for our McAllen, TX location. Position Summary Arepet Express, LLC provides transportation of sand for the oil field, which is a 24/7 service. The Dispatcher role is split into two 12-hour shifts, with 4 days on and 4 days off.
The Dispatcher will act as the primary communication point for our drivers. The dispatcher will receive requests, transmit messages and track trucks. The dispatcher must be primarily an excellent communicator and able to remain calm and composed. The dispatcher must be able to multi-task as well as take the appropriate action with little supervision. The goal is to enable different parties to communicate well by ensuring the accurate and timely transmission of information.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities - Contacts drivers to dispatch and deploy staff and vehicles based on order received.
- Schedule loads while utilizing and maximizing driver hours and loaded miles.
- Prioritize orders according to urgency and importance; utilizing resources effectively to meet the priorities.
- Must be able to anticipate change and/or problems and reallocate resources efficiently.
- Manage and adjust forecasted loads based on customer needs.
- Must be able to confidently make good decisions under time constraints and take accountability for those decisions.
- Use effective listening skills to gather information and/or to identify potential problems. Escalate information when necessary to management.
- Manage and track driver logs, tickets and other documents.
- Monitor the route and status of field units to coordinate and prioritize driver schedule
- Provide Drivers with information about orders, traffic, obstacles and requirements
- Enter data in computer system and maintain logs and records of calls, activities and other information
Skills And Abilities - Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Excellent time management, organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-task and work in a deadline-driven environment
- Must be self-motivated with strong attention to detail and high level of accountability
- Basic understanding of clerical procedures and systems such as record-keeping and filing
- Ability to work independently
- Oil field experience preferred
- Bilingual (Spanish) required
- Knowledge of McLeod software preferred
Education And Experience - High School diploma, General Education degree (GED), or equivalent
- Six months of experience in the transportation/trucking industry preferred
Physical Requirements: - Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer, and telephone.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Must be available to work weekends.
- Must be available to work day and night shifts.
