Overview:
A leading Fort Worth-based commercial construction firm is seeking a Commercial Estimator to join its preconstruction team. This is a key role responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates for a wide range of commercial projects, including education, municipal, healthcare, and private sector developments. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and experienced in managing estimates from concept through final bid.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documents to develop accurate quantity takeoffs and cost estimates.
Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive and comprehensive pricing.
Work closely with project managers, architects, and engineers to identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering options.
Prepare and present detailed bid proposals and scopes of work.
Maintain and update historical cost data for benchmarking and future estimating.
Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client presentations as needed.
Ensure that all estimates comply with company policies, client requirements, and applicable regulations.
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in commercial construction estimating, preferably in general contracting.
Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and market pricing.
Proficiency with estimating software such as On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, and Procore ; experience with Sage/Timberline is a plus.
Excellent math, analytical, and communication skills.
Ability to work on multiple estimates simultaneously under tight deadlines.
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred, but equivalent experience will be considered.
