Job Description: Long-Term Substitute School Nurse Hiring Organization: ATC Healthcare Services – New JerseyClient: East Orange Board of EducationLocation: New Jersey Position Overview: The Long-Term Substitute School Nurse will serve as the primary healthcare professional within the school environment, providing medical care, preventive health services, and health education to students. The nurse will also collaborate with school staff, families, and physicians to manage treatment plans and ensure student health needs are met. Key Responsibilities: * Provide direct health services, including medical care, first aid, and crisis intervention. * Conduct medical screenings (e.g., vision and hearing). * Develop and manage individualized medical treatment plans for chronic conditions such as asthma, diabetes, food allergies, and sickle cell disease. * Maintain and update student health history appraisals (A-45 forms). * Document all medical incidents, treatments, and screenings accurately. * Communicate and collaborate with pediatric physicians, school administration, and families as needed. * Promote health education and preventive practices within the school community. Qualifications: * Required: * New Jersey School Nurse Certification, MSN, BSN, or RN license. * Strong clinical skills with the ability to work independently in a school setting. * Preferred: * Prior experience as a school nurse or pediatric nurse. * Knowledge of school health policies and procedures. Position Details: * Daily Hours: 8:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. (or as determined by school hours). * School Type: Elementary and/or Secondary. * Caseload: Approximately 250–500 students.
