Job Description
Join Reflection Riding’s Summer Camp team as we create engaging, hands-on learning experiencesrooted in nature and exploration. We are seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and caring STEAM Program Instructor to work with campers ages 5–13, delivering meaningful science, technology, engineering, arts, and math experiences in an outdoor camp setting.
The STEAM Program Instructor serves as a key educational leader during camp sessions, acting as a positive role model and helping ensure campers have a safe, engaging, and enjoyable experience. While this role works in close partnership with Summer Camp Counselors, the STEAM Program Instructor serves as the primary educator guiding campers through nature-based crafts, creative projects, and hands-on science activities that align with each week’s camp theme.
Reflection Riding’s Summer Camp is grounded in the philosophy of nature play, self-exploration, and experiential learning. The STEAM Program Instructor plays a vital role in bringing this philosophy to life by designing and facilitating memorable, inquiry-driven activities that spark curiosity, creativity, and confidence in young learners. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on campers while helping shape a growing component of Reflection Riding’s seasonal programming.
Primary Duties
Job Requirements
Training and Certifications
All summer camp staff are required to attend pre-season training from May 25–29, 2026. This training prepares seasonal staff for the camp season and builds a shared understanding of Reflection Riding’s philosophy, safety expectations, and nature-based programming approach.
Summer camp staff are expected to commit to the full summer of programming, including training and all scheduled camp weeks, to ensure consistency and a high-quality experience for campers.
Summer Camp STEAM Program Instructor must complete all required training prior to the start of camp, including First Aid and CPR certification. Training and certification are provided as part of summer staff preparation.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
The physical demands and work environment described here reflect the conditions required to successfully perform the essential functions of this seasonal summer position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.
This is an active, primarily outdoor position. Employees will spend the majority of each day outside supervising and engaging with groups of children and may walk up to 5 miles per day across varied terrain. The role requires sustained focus, energy, and physical stamina while leading and participating in hands-on activities with campers. This position also requires the ability to lift and carry supplies weighing up to 20 pounds and maintain good physical agility.
Because this role takes place during the summer months, employees must be able to work in hot, humid, and occasionally rainy conditions and maintain a high level of performance in changing weather. The work environment includes exposure to common outdoor allergens and insects such as mosquitoes, wasps, and yellow jackets. Camp programming takes place rain or shine, and staff are expected to be prepared to work safely and comfortably in outdoor conditions.
Nondiscrimination Policy

In accordance with state, federal, and local laws, RRANC intends to comply with all laws that preclude discrimination because of race, disability, color, creed, religion, gender, age, sexual orientation, national origin, ancestry, citizenship, military status, and any other protected classification.
This policy applies to all activities of Reflection Riding, including but not limited to employment, selection of volunteers, purchasing, and selecting vendors or consultants.
