The qualified candidate will perform the gross description and dissection of simple and complex surgical specimens. Candidates should be able to proficiently utilize dictation and LIS systems to accurately document surgical samples. Frozen section participation and specimen triage are also key responsibilities of this position. Other duties include collecting and cataloging fresh tissue for the tumor banking, research and special studies.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards, knowledge of quality standards and requirements for pathology specimen photographs, knowledge of biological specimen disposition, maintenance and storage procedures and techniques, and knowledge of chemical reagents and equipment used in pathology research.
