Job Description

A&L Transportation is seeking a responsible and compassionate Student Transportation Monitor to ensure the safety and well-being of students while being transported to and from school and related activities. The monitor will assist the driver with student supervision, provide support for children with special needs, and maintain a safe and positive environment on board.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist students in boarding and exiting the vehicle safely.
• Ensure all students are properly seated and secured with seat belts, car seats, or wheelchairs (as required).
• Maintain order and monitor student behavior during transit.
• Assist students with disabilities or special needs, including securement of mobility devices.
• Communicate effectively with the driver, school staff, and parents as needed.
• Perform basic safety checks inside the vehicle before and after routes.
• Report incidents, injuries, or concerns promptly to the driver and supervisor.
• Support emergency procedures, including evacuation drills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Previous experience working with children (school, daycare, camp, or transportation setting) is a plus.
• Ability to interact positively and patiently with students of all ages and backgrounds.
• Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills.
• Ability to pass background checks, fingerprinting, and drug/alcohol screening.
• Willingness to complete CPR/First Aid certification (training may be provided).
• Physical ability to assist students in and out of the vehicle and secure mobility equipment when necessary.

Schedule & Pay

• Part-time: Typically mornings and afternoons, aligned with school transportation schedules.
